In the summer of 2021, we threw our first two events through funding from the Draussenstadt event series. Our open-air parties featured art installations, Drag Performance, workshops, and DJ sets. We invited guests to investigate themes central to our identity, such as politics of representation, performance, sexuality, community organizing, and activism.
Fluidity I
Fluidity I was held in August 2021 at the open-air venue Brache Berlin. The workshops took place during the first half of the party and were followed by the drag show. The drag performances were thrown by the Venus Boys collective. The show does not operate in traditional terms of drag but allows for performers to explore gender and identity across the spectrum.
Through the funding from Draußenstadt, we were able to have an inclusive party that was free of door charge. All the contributions at the door were donation-based.
After the workshops, the party opened up the dancefloor with DJ sets by house favorites of the Berlin Queer club scene; Daniella De Silva, DJ Cali Rose, and VINVAR.
With custom fog and light design, the dancefloor was lively and electric, a congregation for celebration from the late afternoon till the evening. Almost all of the 600 event attendees congregated on the dance floor and closed the party together.
Fluidity II
Fluidity II was held in October 2021 at CURA in Friedrichshain Berlin. The event once again featured workshops, performances, and a dancefloor with a live DJ set.
During the day we kicked off the party hosting workshops. We once again threw to the Drag Workshop which was a crowd favorite at Fluidity I. Additionally we were excited to welcome the Fantasy Circle Workshop.
The Venus boys returned for another round of awe-inspiring performances, exploring all aspects of not only the gender spectrum but all life forms from this world and others.
The door was free and all contributions were donation-based. This event attracted 750 guests and reached capacity from the popularity of the first event.
The lively and vibrant dance floor was accompanied by live DJ sets by Fluid.Vision resident VINVAR, as well as invited DJ guests Radical Softness and Ræza.
